Empowerment Paths PLLC believes that every individual has the potential to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life. I strive to empower clients to overcome challenges and achieve their goals through a collaborative and culturally humble approach.
Even in the most difficult times in our lives, strength and fortitude can be found inside every one of us. Maybe you think you can manage your difficulties in life alone because you likely can get through it without help. Even if you can get through it alone, do you want or need to? If you are willing, mental health therapy can be helpful in so many different situations.
By clarifying what is most important in your life, I could help you navigate your troubles, whether you are adjusting to a new medical diagnosis, dealing with chronic pain, dealing with anxious thoughts, feeling depressed, going through a big life change, or dealing with discrimination (examples: racism, body sizeism/fatphobia, ageism, sexism, genderism, ableism, etc.). While it is understandable to feel broken when considering reaching out for help, people do not break but sometimes become stuck. We can work together to empower you to move forward.
As a US Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am passionate about serving other Veterans and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. However, my main passion is working toward equity for all, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, and working towards cultural humility. There are many systemic issues in our culture that can have negative impacts on mental health, especially for those who do not align with majority groups.
I primarily use an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approach (ACT). ACT is a form of talk therapy that focuses on what matters most to the client and what is in your control. Suffering is part of the human condition, AND I believe every person can live full lives if they become mindful of their actions. By clarifying what matters most to you, we can work to choose to do those things, despite any number of obstacles including anxiety, chronic illness, discrimination,** and pain. Our work together might be finding creative ways for you to live in line with your values.
**While I believe it is important to understand sources of pain and cope effectively with discrimination, I do not pathologize individuals for their reactions to discrimination. I actively advocate for equity in many areas and strive to improve the world while empowering others to live a peaceful, happy life.
Hello! My name is Judy Jagiello, PsyD. Let me tell you a little about myself. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Montana State University, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Applied Psychological Science from Pacific University. While studying on the Health Psychology Track, I completed my Doctor of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) degree from Pacific University in 2021. In addition to my PsyD, I completed a concentration in Interprofessional Education and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology. I will soon be a licensed psychologist in Washington State.
I previously worked in the VA system for four years, having completed training in several VA hospitals before licensure. I completed a Health Psychology internship with the Battle Creek VA Medical Center in Michigan before graduation. After graduation, I completed a health psychology post-doctorate fellowship at the North Florida / South Georgia VA Medical System. Then, I was employed as an Unlicensed Primary Care Psychologist for one year at the Spokane, WA VA Medical Hospital, while under supervision. Before my training in the VA, I worked at the National University of Natural Medicine, Pacific Psychology and Comprehensive Health Clinic, Washington County Juvenile Department, and Luke Dorf providing therapy.
I work as an independent contractor with two organizations. Please feel free to reach out to me via the "Drop me a line!" feature on this website, or call the phone numbers listed below.
